WALTER SMITH HELPING HAND
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Minimum Award $500
Number of Awards 2
This scholarship was established in 2022 to honor the incredible life of Walter Smith, who embodied the virtues of community service, integrity, and serving as a positive role model for the youth of the Fife/Milton community. Walt gave so much of his time and boundless energy to FME Little League as both a Coach and a Board Member. He was always the first to show up on Field Improvement Day and jump behind the plate when an emergency umpire was needed. He was actively involved with many of the Fife High School sports programs as well, including fastpitch, volleyball, and basketball, all in which his daughter Claire excelled. Walter volunteered for countless Fife High Boosters fund raisers and was always the last to go home after the work was done. Walt was also active in his church group and always willing to help anyone in need. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was taken from our community too soon but left a lasting legacy of service and Trojan Pride!
